Presents for Quilters
So for the middle day of our "5 days of gifts" we are looking at what the quilters amongst us would like. We know our quilters very well, and secretly admire their fabric obsession, so have selected gifts that might be things they haven't already got.
Our picks are…
Lots of our quilty customers go to groups and classes, so we think this bag would make a lovely gift. Large, big enough for a quilt in progress (including wadding!) it is also waterproof, being made from recycled water bottles. The quilt featured on the side is by Allison Harris.
Microfibre Cleaning Cloths
So, these not may sound like the most interesting gift, but when these cloths came in they made all the staff swoon! There are 4 cloths in each set, and each features images from Tacha Breucher's Hexa-Go-Go book. They are suitable for cleaning mobile phones, iPads, cameras and computer screens. Each one has a special static-cling backing, so can be kept near to the gadget you need it for.
The Beginners Guide to Quilting
We may be a little biased, but we think this debut book from our very own quilting tutor, Elizabeth Betts is fab! It features 16 projects to learn to quilt, overviews of easy techniques, and some lovely photography.
Quarter Inch Foot
As we mentioned yesterday, to a non sewist a sewing machine foot does not look like the most exciting gift! However, if you are new to patchwork a quarter inch foot is a real must, and would be a very welcome gift. We have different feet for different machines, so if you let us know the make and model number when you pop in we can supply you with the correct foot.
Sewing Machine Bag
These attractive bags not only protect a sewing machine from dust, they also make them easy to carry. Ideal, whether the machine is kept behind the sofa, or carted off to classes. We have a range of prints in stock, however this spotty one is our favourite.
Patchwork Starter Set
From about August onwards, we overhear lots of our patchwork students saying they are putting a rotary cutting set on their Christmas list. It is an essential piece of kit for those serious about quilt making. We offer a great discount to help get beginner patchworkers up and running. This kit includes a self healing mat, acrylic ruler, rotary cutter and pins. Once bought, if looked after, the user will only ever need to buy replacement blades.
Brighton Sewing Centre Voucher
The gift of time to sew! Did you know we have regular patchwork and quilting classes here on a Sunday? 11 till 3, the classes are a relaxed way to be introduced to patchwork and quilting, or to carve some time out of a busy schedule to come and sew. £25 pays for one session, however we sell them in denominations of £10 so you could add on some spending money for fabric if you are feeling generous!
£25 for the class
Father Christmas knows I've been good this year!
Kona Cotton Bundle
Over the last few years, Kona cottons have become a much trusted staple of every patchworker stash. This bundle would be a real treat for a quilter, and can be used together, or with other fabrics to create some lovely projects. A selection of our 30 best selling colours, we will wrap it up lovely in ribbon for you as well.
£52.50 for 30 fat quarters
